Picking winners of horse races is not straight forward. Neither is picking horses to place, otherwise we’d all be millionaires!
There are ways to improve your chances of success playing Coral Racing Super Series.
💡 USE TIPSTERS FROM RELIABLE SOURCES
Established digital sources provide tips on all UK & Irish Horse Racing. Good sources include:
- racingpost.com. A daily print and digital publication with comprehensive form on each runner on each UK & Irish race. There is a handy summary of each race which suggest, not only a winner, but also those likeliest to be in contention. There are a plethora of other in-house tipsters too, each with their own opinion and rationale. Well worth checking out before making your Racing Super Series selections, although a subscription is required.
- timeform.com. The punters bible. Comprehensive ratings and form for each horse in the race. Look out for the big “P” and little “p” symbols – both are an indicator of horses that are likely to improve & perform well in Racing Super Series. Subscription required.
- attheraces.com. Digital arm of the media company that operates Sky Sports Racing TV. Racecard, tips and form plus odds grids. More of those later. Tips supplied by such luminaries as Hugh Taylor, Tony Keenan and speed ratings/analysis from Lawrence Taylor.
- tipstrr.com. A site which features the best of free verified daily racing tipsters each with a proven track record that can help plot your way through Racing Super Series races. There is a premium service too which can be accessed via a small subscription. Well worth a look!
- sportinglife.com. Excellent site for news and features with an established tipping team of in house professionals, and well known racing personalities. Comprehensive listing of UK & Irish racecards and results.
- oddschecker.com. The best price comparison site out there. The price of each horse is listed under betting operators, in price order – favourites at the top, outsiders at the bottom. If the price of a horse is blue, it means that the price of a horse is getting shorter. In other words, market forces (lots of people betting on it) are positive. If the price of horse is shaded red it means the price of the horse is getting bigger, market forces are negative.
If the horse is neither of these colours, the price of the horse is stable.
💡READ THE HORSE’S FORM
A horse’s recent form reads from left to right. It’s very handy to understand what a horses form means when making your Coral Racing Super Series picks.
The horse’s form will have a series of numbers and/or letters next to its name, explained in the table below
Numbers & Letters | What they mean |
---|---|
1-9 | The finishing position of a race between 1st to 9th |
0 | The finishing position of a horse that finished 10th or greater |
F | Fell |
UR | Unseated rider |
BD | Brought down |
R | Refused to race |
Bob’s Joy | 0-8BD93F2 |
The last time Bob’s Joy ran, it finished 2nd, the time before that it Fell. A hyphen splits seasons. So that the last time Bob’s Joy ran last season, it finished 10th or higher.
When making your Coral Racing Super Series picks, consider horses that have performed well recently. Those with numbers ‘1’, ‘2’, ‘3’ indicate horses that have won or been placed in their recent races.
💡 GRADING HANDICAP FORM
Horse races are split into handicaps and non-handicaps. Coral Racing Super Series races will often contain both types of races.
In handicap races , horses are given weights based on an assessment of their ability and recent form. The rating of a horse is a number. The higher the number, the more ability a horse has, and the greater the weight the horse will carry.
Handicap races have grades from Class 1 (the best grade) to Class 6 (the lowest grade), often shown as ‘C1’, ‘C6’, etc.
- 💡Last winning mark (or placing mark for Coral Racing Super Series) Look for a horse with a handicap mark that is the same as when they last ran to a place. If they’ve done it once, they should have a chance of doing it again
- 💡Look out for Class droppers - horses that are racing at a lower grade than they are used to. They should have a better chance of success as the race is easier.
Just before you go..
When making your Racing Super Series picks, remember to read the terms and conditions carefully on the site. It’s worth revisiting our “Some things to be aware of when playing Racing Super Series” section, BEFORE submitting your entry.
